Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of Ancora Translate. By downloading, installing or using the app you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the app.

2. The licence we grant you

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use Ancora Translate on devices you own or control, for your own personal use, in accordance with these terms, the rules of the store you installed it from, and applicable law.

3. Translation is produced by machines

Ancora Translate translates using Google ML Kit on your device and, for Pro users, a cloud AI model. Machine translation can be wrong, incomplete or inappropriate for a particular context. Do not rely on it for legal, medical, financial, safety-critical or official documents, and do not treat it as the only check on anything important. You are responsible for how you use a translation.

4. What you may not do

  • Use the app in a way that breaks any law or infringes anyone's rights.

  • Submit text or images you do not have the right to translate or share.

  • Attempt to overload, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to our services.

  • Attempt to bypass the AI translation limits, entitlement checks or rate limits.

5. AI translation (Pro)

AI translation is a feature of the Pro plan. A single request is limited to 5,000 characters and requests are rate limited so the service stays available to everyone. The service may refuse a request when a limit is reached or when the Pro entitlement is not active. AI translation requires an internet connection, and we may change, limit or discontinue it.

6. Subscriptions, billing and renewal

Pro is purchased through the store you installed the app from (Google Play or the Apple App Store). The store shows the available plans, for example monthly, six-monthly and yearly, together with the price and the renewal terms before you buy. Payment is charged to your store account. Subscriptions renew automatically until they are cancelled, and are managed and cancelled in your store account; uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.

We use RevenueCat to manage subscription state and to unlock the Pro features in the app, and you can restore an earlier purchase from the upgrade screen.

7. Promotional codes

A promotional code gives Pro access for the period we set when the code is issued. Codes are validated by our service, can be redeemed once per installation, expire at the date our service reports, may be disabled or withdrawn, and have no cash value.

8. Advertising

The free tier of Ancora Translate is supported by an advertisement supplied by Google AdMob. Pro removes the banner. Advertising supplied by Google is subject to Google's own terms and policies.

9. Your content

You keep whatever rights you have in the text and images you translate. We do not claim ownership of your content or translation history. Translation history stays on your device. You are responsible for making sure you have the right to submit the text or images you translate, particularly when you use the cloud AI feature.

10. Availability and changes to the app

The app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may update, change, add or remove features, and we may release updates that you need in order to keep using the app.

11. Termination

You may stop using Ancora Translate at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or end access to services such as AI translation and promotional code redemption if these terms are broken, if the service is being abused, or if we have to discontinue a service.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Ancora Translate is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by relying on a machine translation. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

13. Third-party services

Ancora Translate uses services provided by Google (ML Kit on-device translation and text recognition, the speech recognition and text-to-speech services of your Android device, AdMob advertising and Google Play billing), by Apple (the speech recognition and text-to-speech services of your iOS device, and App Store billing), by RevenueCat (subscription and entitlement management) and by Cloudflare (infrastructure used to operate our AI translation and promotional code backend). Their own terms and privacy policies apply to the parts of the service they provide.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms when the app changes. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
